PVH Collaborates in DESIUM Project
29/04/2025

At PVHardware, we have always been committed to innovation and the development of technological solutions that not only optimize energy efficiency but also enhance human well-being. A clear example of this commitment is our collaboration in the DESIUM project for the Creation of Realistic Virtual Environments for the Simulation of Human Behavior, which has successfully completed its second year.
The main goal of this project is to develop an innovative tool that analyzes and evaluates human interaction with the products, services, and environments around us, with a special focus on ergonomics and human factors.
What is the DESIUM Project?
DESIUM aims to develop an advanced tool to help companies design and assess workplace environments more efficiently and ergonomically. Through virtual simulation of human interaction with their surroundings, the tool enables deep and realistic analysis during various stages of the workstation design process. This approach not only maximizes performance and comfort but also helps identify ergonomic issues early, saving time and reducing costs.
The tool developed within this project will be of great value to companies, allowing them to analyze and evaluate worker interactions with their environments before physical implementation, ultimately creating safer, more comfortable, and more productive workplaces.
PVH’s Role in the DESIUM Project
Throughout the development of DESIUM, our collaboration focused on two key aspects:
- Facilitating In-Situ Data Acquisition: We contributed our expertise in collecting anthropometric data from workers at representative workstations. This included gathering images, videos, and physical measurements to create more accurate virtual models of workplace environments.
- Collaborating in Functionality Evaluation: We actively participated in assessing the tool’s functionalities and proposed new features that could enhance the interaction between workers and their environment even more effectively.
Key Advances of the DESIUM Project
Over recent months, the project has made significant progress thanks to the collaboration of companies like PVH, Torrescámara, Importaco, Avant Gestió Tècnica, and others. Some of the most noteworthy achievements include:
- Exploration of Motion Capture Techniques: Enabling the integration of workers into virtual environments for more realistic work simulations.
- Analysis of High-Risk Workstation Needs: Identifying critical ergonomic risks in workplace settings.
- On-Site Company Visits: Conducting in-situ data collection to ensure that virtual models closely replicate real-world workstations.
- Motion Capture Testing: Initial tests to integrate human movement into the created virtual environments.
Benefits for Companies in Valencia
The DESIUM project opens new doors for companies across the Valencian Community by providing a valuable tool for optimizing workplace design. The ability to virtually visualize and assess worker interactions with their environment significantly reduces ergonomic risks and boosts productivity without the need for costly physical prototypes.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia (IBV) and collaborating companies, DESIUM represents a major step forward in creating safer and more efficient workplaces, a crucial element for the future of the region’s industries.
The Future of Workspaces: Technology Serving Well-being
With the collaboration of PVH and other sector-leading companies, the DESIUM project has laid the groundwork for the next generation of work environments where virtual simulation plays a central role. This technology allows companies to design workstations more efficiently and personally, ensuring employee safety and comfort while enhancing productivity.
At PVH, we remain committed to innovation not only in the energy sector but also in the development of technological solutions that improve people’s lives and workplace environments.
